Requirements

  • In-depth knowledge of construction industry and company operations, including building materials, construction specifications, methods and procedures, and safety and quality management practices.
  • Knowledge of and application of health, safety, and environment principles/procedures/ legislation.
  • Works in concert with the Production Manager to validate and administer budgeted hours through the shops.
  • Extensive critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to complete material, labor, and equipment takeoffs.
  • Provides estimates for production of elements to stakeholders and clients (internal and/or external). Provides input to the Estimating team.
  • Trusted advisor providing guidance to the company, with the ability to offer strategic counsel and influence decisions at the department level.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing others and fabrication project facets, including multiple scope coordination. Experience leading and assessing vendor performance.
  • Ability to monitor and forecast project resources and staffing for the project.
  • Strong understanding of productivity rates and ability to interpret cost reports.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews work order and shop drawings to ensure the necessary information is provided for the commencement of fabrication i.e. cut files, client expectations, sequence for client review and buy-off.
  • Serves as a liaison for the Shop execution of all Work Orders between Nassal Fabrication Shops and Project Teams/Clients.
  • Advises on the labor production rates that should be included in the estimate.
  • Participates in design reviews prior to submittal of shop drawings for review and approval.
  • Advises on the most efficient and cost-effective technical approach to achieve the design intent.
  • Reviews shop drawings for constructability and profitability.
  • Leads fabrication shop safety inspections with the respective foremen and follows up as needed.
  • Attends Project Team and Design Team drawing package reviews to provide feedback, assist with P6 fabrication scheduling.
  • Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors team, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Effectively communicates with internal and external stakeholders, as required.
