About The Position

This role is responsible for activities and processes that support the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) organization in achieving business objectives, impacting the team's ability to meet service, quality, and timeliness goals. The position operates under policy objectives with moderate autonomy, requiring high levels of operational judgment to achieve desired outcomes. Individuals in this role lead EHS governance audits and contribute to GE's EHS audit and governance strategy, working within a region but potentially across regional boundaries for specific initiatives. The role demands specialized functional knowledge and involves influencing strategy development, including resource control and policy formulation. It requires interpreting internal and external business challenges, recommending best practices, and staying informed of industry trends. The leader will use high judgment to make decisions and manage complex tasks in operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering areas. Key aspects include assessing information quality, asking pertinent questions, offering innovative solutions, and constructing recommendations using diverse internal and external sources. The role may involve leading functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and complexity, and communicating difficult concepts while influencing and guiding others' perspectives.

Requirements

  • For roles outside of the USA: Significant experience in the Environmental Health & Safety & EHS Governance. Knowledge level is comparable to a Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma with relevant experience).
  • For roles in USA: Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with at least 6 years of experience in Job Family Group(s)/Function(s)).

Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS governance audits and GE's EHS audit & governance strategy.
  • Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility, including control of resources and influences policy formulation.
  • Interpret simple internal and external business challenges and recommend best practices to improve products, processes or services.
  • Stay informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Use high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.
  • Assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders.
  • Offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and construct and provide recommendations.
  • Use multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity.
  • Communicate difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics.
  • May guide others to consider a different point of view.
