About The Position

Seeking musical theater pianists with strong sight reading skills and experience teaching and accompanying vocalists. Be the first to rehearse, teach and play new material written by students in the Musical Theater Writing minor. Rehearse outside of class with performers and writers, and present material during the class itself, while getting paid for it! Please highlight in your cover letter any musical theater playing experience or experience teaching vocals . See dates and times below. Ave, Room 305 (Songwriting Office) (the days after rehearsals): 10.8 – I Want solos 10/22 – AABA terse solos 11/5 – Crisis/Climax scenes and songs 11/19 – In-Class Rehearsal of pitches 12/3 – In-Class Rehearsal of revised pitches 12/10 – 8-minute Pitch Presentations Rehearsals: 8 Tuesday evenings, 6pm-11pm, plus some in-class rehearsals on Wednesday listed above 10/7 - I Want solos 10/21 - AABA terse solos 11/4 - Crisis/Climax scenes and songs 11/18 – rehearse pitches 12/2 – revised pitches 12/9 - 8 minute pitch dress rehearsal SW-345-001 MT Writing 1 – Reiffel (HIGH PRIORITY) Class: 4 Thursdays 9am, 921-511 (9/25, 10/16, 11/13, 12/11) Rehearsals: 4 Wednesday evenings, 6 pm – 11 pm: 9/24 - every lyric is a lie - solos 10/15 - action/activity - solos 11/12 - duets from PROOF 12/10 - PROOF threaded scenes RECITAL prep

Requirements

  • Current student at Berklee College of Music or Boston Conservatory at Berklee
  • Enrolled at least half-time in a degree, diploma, or certificate-seeking undergraduate or graduate program. Summer is the only semester in which a student can maintain employment without being enrolled. In this case, the student must be pre-registered for the upcoming fall semester. This exception does not apply to fall or spring semesters.
  • Have a valid United States Social Security Number (SSN)
  • Remain in “valid” Visa status as applicable
  • A minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA. Students in their first semester can work, even though they do not have an official GPA until the completion of their first semester.
  • Federal Work Study student may apply
  • In good disciplinary standing
  • Must be located in the U.S.
  • Musical theater pianists with strong sight reading skills
  • Experience teaching and accompanying vocalists
  • Must be available for all dates and times for at least one of the rehearsal/class combinations
