About The Position

The Music Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive music curriculum, fostering a positive learning environment, and guiding students in their musical exploration and skill development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in music education, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to inspire and motivate students.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments.
  • Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and pedagogy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to maintain professionalism and tact in high-stress situations.
  • Committed to working with under-served students.
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field
  • State teaching certification or licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a well-rounded music curriculum that aligns with state and national standards.
  • Create engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities.
  • Deliver effective and dynamic music lessons that cover various aspects of music education, including music theory, history, and performance.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages creativity and self-expression.
  • Provide instruction in various musical instruments and/or vocal techniques.
  • Organize and conduct rehearsals for school musical ensembles, such as choirs, bands, or orchestras.
  • Offer personalized guidance to students based on their musical interests and skill levels.
  • Provide constructive feedback and assessment to help students grow and develop their musical abilities.
  • Incorporate technology into music education, utilizing relevant software and tools to enhance the learning experience.
  • Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and administrators to integrate music education into interdisciplinary activities.
  • Work closely with parents and the community to build support for the music program.
  • Coordinate and participate in mass, school concerts, recitals, and other musical events to showcase student talents.
  • Organize and accompany students to music competitions and festivals.
  • Stay current with trends and advancements in music education.
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to continually enhance teaching skills.
