About The Position

This position provides instrumental music instruction to middle and high school students, supporting their musical growth and skill development through engaging, standards-aligned lessons tailored to diverse ability levels. The role encourages parent and guardian involvement through regular communication, concerts, open houses, volunteering opportunities, and conferences. Technology is integrated to enhance instruction, performance, and student engagement, while fostering participation, achievement, and an appreciation for music. The position also focuses on building and maintaining positive relationships with students, families, and the broader school community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education.
  • Valid Colorado Driver's License.
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License with a Music endorsement
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in response to change.
  • Possesses computer and technology skills.
  • Effectively works with students from diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Collaborates well with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Capable of understanding and following both complex oral and written instructions.
  • Able to perform duties independently with minimal supervision.
  • Communicates effectively with the School District community.
  • Skilled in analysis, instruction, negotiation, coordination, communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal interactions.
  • Proficient in comparing, computing, synthesizing, and evaluating information.
  • Meets attendance standards and works the necessary hours to fulfill essential responsibilities.
  • Maintains confidentiality.
  • Upholds a generally positive attitude.
  • Complies with all District policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to federal and state laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 10 (ten) pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, bending, walking, and standing.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and provide targeted interventions for English Language Learners (ELLs)
  • Use data and assessments to identify needs and support reading, writing, listening, and speaking development
  • Create engaging, structured learning environments that promote inquiry, creativity, and student participation
  • Foster a respectful, fair, and inclusive classroom culture
  • Differentiate instruction to support advanced and struggling learners
  • Maintain organized systems for classroom procedures, data collection, and effective use of instructional time
  • Empower students to track and take ownership of their learning
  • Implement effective classroom management strategies, including routines, grouping, and transitions
  • Deliver interventions using push-in and pull-out models
  • Apply diverse teaching methods, learning styles, and research-based practices to meet all student needs
  • Design and evaluate authentic, standards-aligned learning experiences using modern tools and resources
  • Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen curriculum and cross-disciplinary connections
  • Ensure instruction is rigorous, relevant, and connected to real-world applications
  • Align lessons with standards, objectives, and assessments; adjust instruction based on student data
  • Provide small group and individualized instruction as needed
  • Deliver timely, specific, and constructive feedback to maximize student achievement
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and stakeholders using various platforms
  • Collaborate with staff, families, and community partners to support student success
  • Participate in meetings, PLCs, and professional development activities
  • Apply continuous learning to improve instructional practices
  • Advocate for student success and uphold professional ethics and standards
  • Support High School Marching Band
  • Support the marching band program during fall season
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
