About The Position

Summary: The Music Teacher is responsible for the instruction of music content in a classroom setting within grade levels K-12. Responsibilities: SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: · Designs and implements appropriate music instruction assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students’ needs. · Creates a positive educational climate for students to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport. · Creates and delivers relevant and rigorous music lessons that maximize student engagement and achievement. · Utilizes a variety of teaching practices and methodologies that reflect diverse educational, cultural and linguistic backgrounds in order to meet the individual needs of students. · Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors student assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance. · Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures. · Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement. · Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities. · Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, and data. · Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required. · Performs any other duties as assigned. Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree.
• Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Music or eligibility for Florida Temporary Music Certificate is required.
• Reads, analyzes, and interprets all kinds of documents.
• Responds to inquiries or complaints from employees, regulatory agencies, or community.
• Writes speeches and effectively presents to managers, the public, and school board.
• Works with math concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of geometry and trigonometry.
• Applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Microsoft Office
• Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance.
• Support the district’s vision, mission, goals, and Strategic Plan.
• Engage in civility, respect, and professionalism.
• Maintain the professional knowledge and skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of their positions.
