Job SummarySt. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School is seeking a passionate, faith-filled, and dynamic Music Teacher to inspire our Kindergarten through 8th grade students. We are a vibrant Catholic school community dedicated to academic excellence, spiritual formation, and the development of the whole child.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education or related field (required)
  • Valid teaching certification
  • Religious certification or working towards it
  • Experience teaching elementary and/or middle school music preferred
  • Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and music preferred
  • Practicing Catholic preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Ability to play piano or guitar for liturgical accompaniment preferred
  • Joyful and enthusiastic presence
  • Strong vocal and/or instrumental proficiency
  • Ability to engage young learners through movement and interactive activities
  • Commitment to fostering student confidence and creativity
  • Collaborative spirit and professional demeanor

Responsibilities

  • Teach general music classes to students in Kindergarten through 8th grade
  • Develop age-appropriate lessons including but not limited to music theory, vocal performance, rhythm, movement, and appreciation
  • Direct and prepare students for school liturgies, prayer services, concerts, and special events
  • Lead and develop choir opportunities
  • Integrate Catholic faith and values into music instruction
  • Collaborate with faculty and parish staff to support the spiritual life of the school
  • Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based music instruction
  • Prepare students to sing and participate in weekly Mass and major liturgical celebrations
  • Organize and direct at least two school concerts per year (e.g., Christmas and Spring programs)
  • Introduce students to diverse musical styles, composers, and cultures
  • Incorporate technology and creative movement into lessons as appropriate
  • Maintain classroom management aligned with school policies
  • Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and administration
  • Support the mission and philosophy of Catholic education
