About The Position

Windham Academy Public Charter School is seeking a passionate and reliable Long-Term Substitute Music Teacher to provide high-quality music instruction during an extended absence. The Long-Term Substitute Music Teacher will support students’ musical development while maintaining a structured, engaging, and inclusive learning environment aligned with Windham Academy’s values and expectations.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Experience teaching music to elementary and/or middle school students preferred
• Background in music education, performance, or related field strongly preferred
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Ability to be flexible, organized, and dependable

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging music instruction aligned with provided lesson plans, curriculum goals, and school expectations
• Teach fundamental music concepts such as rhythm, melody, movement, singing, and music appreciation
• Maintain consistent classroom routines and behavior expectations
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment for all students
• Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and administration as needed
• Communicate student progress, concerns, and successes to administration
• Supervise students during class time and transitions
• Follow all school policies related to student safety, confidentiality, and professionalism
