About The Position

Music Teacher Early Elementary Division Position Overview Music Teachers are inquisitive, nurturing, fun-loving, flexible, and creative. They model lifelong learning for their colleagues and students. They involve themselves in areas of the School beyond their classroom walls. They are responsible for fulfilling all of their responsibilities in accordance with the mission and philosophy of the School. They are responsible for differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all students in their class.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Music Education required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree preferred
  • State of Georgia Teaching Certificate/License or equivalent from another state (preferred)
  • Training in Orff-Schulwerk, Kodaly, and Dalcroze Eurythmics (preferred)
  • Minimum three years teaching experience with young children (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Creates and implements developmentally appropriate music curriculum
  • Has proficiency in singing, reading music, and playing the piano
  • Shows a passion for teaching music to young children using a variety of instructional methods and the capacity to create an environment in which all children consider themselves musicians and develop a love of music
  • Has excellent classroom management skills and models appropriate behavior for the students
  • Understands and supports developmental benchmarks academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviorally
  • Demonstrates strong organizational skills
  • Incorporates cultural diversity through the music curriculum
  • Develops and orchestrates school-wide performances
  • Collaborates effectively with other music team members and colleagues to support the school community
  • Communicates proficiently in oral and written forms
  • Participates in duties such as carpool, lunch, and recess
  • Takes initiative to fulfill typical responsibilities and demonstrates a willingness to problem-solve atypical situations
  • Effectively uses best practices in teaching and learning to design and deliver instruction
  • Presents well-planned lessons and has the ability to shift in the moment with child-initiated ideas; able to apply differentiated teaching methods
  • Maintains accurate and comprehensive records of each child’s performance and progress, including the My Learning digital portfolio SeeSaw
  • Models appropriate behavior for students and is able to effectively engage children in learning and practicing appropriate behavior
  • Uses technology to enhance instruction and communicate effectively
  • Understands responsible digital citizenship
  • Maintains an organized, pleasant, and inviting learning environment
  • Initiates and actively participates in professional development opportunities
  • Participates in associated duties such as carpool, lunch, and recess
  • Desire to introduce cultural diversity through the Music curriculum
  • Other duties as assigned
