About The Position

The Music Director (MD) is the creative and operational engine behind our weekend worship experiences. You will produce high-quality musical resources, build and shepherd a skilled team of musicians, and lead live worship experiences with excellence—all to create an environment where people encounter Jesus through music. This role demands musical expertise, relational depth, technical proficiency, and a pastor’s heart.

Requirements

  • Musical Mastery - Expert-level proficiency on at least one primary instrument (keys, guitar, bass, or drums) and strong command of modern worship arranging.
  • Technical Skill - Proficient in DAWs for stem creation (Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton)
  • Leadership DNA - Proven ability to recruit, disciple, and retain volunteer teams.
  • Heart Posture - Active member in good standing with Evangel; fully aligned with leadership’s vision and worship philosophy.
  • Availability - Weekend services are non-negotiable unless approved; flexible evenings for rehearsals and mentoring.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MainStage programming, loop design, or hybrid acoustic/ electronic worship rigs.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare Practice Resources - Deliver clean, labeled stems for drums, bass, guitars, keys (piano/organ/synth), vocals, and any additional elements for every new song. These practice tracks are the primary learning tool for band and vocal team members.
  • Weekly Reference Tracks - Produce stereo “left/right” mixes that include click, guide cues, and full instrumentation—exactly how the song will sound live. These tracks equip CG, audio, and lighting teams with lyric timing, transitions, and key audio moments.
  • Stem Session Creation - Build multi-track stem packages each week using Pro Tools, Ableton Live, Logic, or equivalent platforms
  • Roster & Scheduling - Recruit, audition, and schedule musicians for all weekend services and special events.
  • One-on-One Investment - Mentor musicians outside regular hours—rehearsal coaching, spiritual check-ins, and creative development.
  • Contracted Musicians - Secure and onboard substitute players when needed, handling contracts and compensation.
  • Life-on-Life Discipleship - Regularly meet with team members to shepherd their spiritual health, mental wellness, family life, and musical growth.
  • Partner with Worship Pastor - Execute and expand artistic vision; attend planning meetings, song selection, and set flow design.
  • Cross-Department Sync - Work hand-in-hand with Production Team to provide a cohesive relationship between worship and production.
  • Support Worship Leaders - Translate their ideas into actionable arrangements during planning meeting and in real time during a spontaneous moments in services.
  • MD on Platform - Conduct the band live—calling chord changes, dynamics, transitions, and spontaneous moments under the leading of the Worship Leader and the Holy Spirit.
  • Flow & Sensitivity - Seamlessly pivot with worship leaders during extended worship, prophetic moments, and pastoral transitions.
