About The Position

The Worcester Art Museum is seeking experienced, thoughtful, and collaborative educators to join our Studio Classes team as Museum Faculty. Museum Faculty play a vital role in advancing WAM’s mission to connect people, cultures, and communities through the experience of art by creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for youth, teens, and adults from a wide range of backgrounds and experience levels. Teaching at WAM offers the opportunity to work in a uniquely rich educational environment where world-class art is an active part of the classroom. Museum Faculty are invited to design and teach courses that draw inspiration from the Museum’s permanent collection and rotating exhibitions, using gallery visits, discussion, and art-making to help students build personal connections to artworks, ideas, and cultural narratives. Classes are rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and dialogue, and faculty are encouraged to bring their own artistic voice and teaching perspective into this shared learning space. Faculty experience a high degree of creative autonomy in shaping their courses, while being supported by a collaborative studio programs team that values clear communication and partnership. Teaching at WAM is well suited to educators who enjoy working independently, engaging deeply with their students, and contributing to a learning environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and responsive to diverse learning styles and needs.
