About The Position

The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art is located in Sarasota, Florida, and is a department of Florida State University. Learn more about The Ringling at https://www.ringling.org/careers/. This role typically: Patrols The Ringling's 66 acres of buildings, galleries, and grounds as assigned. Monitor visitor activity to ensure: Safety of staff and visitors Adherence to all policies/procedures Protection of the collection, buildings, and grounds while guarding against theft, vandalism, and other damage Briefly answers guest questions with a focus on customer service and creating a welcoming environment for our visitor population. Conducts daily inspections of assigned areas and reports: Safety issues Damages or necessary repairs Water intrusion or leaks As needed this role: Assists with emergency situations by communicating with the appropriate point of contact. Escorting staff and guests as assigned. This role must present a professional image in line with internal dress code.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Ascend/descend stairs
  • Ability to work in all types of weather conditions
  • Valid Driver's License or ability to obtain prior to hire
  • Driver's permits are not allowable

Nice To Haves

  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Experience in a museum or non-profit organization.
  • Ability to promote a welcoming work/education environment.
  • Respond in a calm manner to urgent/emergency situations.
