About The Position

This position is located in the Administration Division of the Public Transportation and Parking Department within the City of Oklahoma City. This is an entry-level position requiring the application of accounting principles to a computerized municipal accounting system. Essential job functions include: maintaining accurate records of municipal accounts; monitoring expenditures/revenues; preparing periodic financial statements and administrative reports; and obtaining and providing information. The employee communicates with other City employees, outside agencies and citizens to explain government regulations, problem areas in funds, and to verify status of specific funds, etc. The employee may be required to provide technical assistance or training to clerical personnel, Account Clerks or Accounting Technicians through verbal explanation and physical demonstration of work performed. Assignments are performed independently following general and specific instructions. Work is subject to review by the immediate supervisor for overall standards of performance and is subject to periodic audits.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of computerized accounting applications.
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques and principles.
  • Knowledge of and ability to supervise clerical personnel.
  • Skill in compiling, organizing and working accurately with financial data.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of accounting concepts, techniques, and principles to work performed.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
  • Ability and willingness to assume responsibility for accuracy of work product.
