Purpose of Job: Improve the overall health of the communities we serve by supporting coordinated clinical navigation, referral management, provider scheduling, and patient centered care to ensure timely access, effective care coordination, and compliance within Multispecialty care teams as follows:

Requirements

  • Completion of medical assistant training through an apprenticeship program registered and approved by the WA Department of Labor & Industries or college program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education School (ABHES) or the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) required.
  • Certification through the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), National Healthcareer Association (NHA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) required within 120 days of hire. Washington locations also require a Medical Assistant – Certified credential issued by Washington State Department of Health.
  • Excellent customer service, oral and written communications skills required.
  • Compassion for patients required.
  • Must be able to work well in team environment.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced work environment, with ability to anticipate future needs.
  • Basic computer user skills required.
  • Medical terminology and accurate spelling ability required.
  • BLS (CPR/AED) required.
  • Commitment to supporting a safe and respectful environment is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a community health clinic preferred.
  • Experience with EHR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and triages referrals while assisting patients in navigating CHAS Health and community resources to ensure timely access to appropriate services and smooth care transitions.
  • Supports patient screening to confirm eligibility and link individuals with appropriate clinical and program resources.
  • Provides ongoing patient support and case management aligned with care plans, goals, and program requirements.
  • Maintains communication with Multispecialty providers regarding patient engagement, progress, care plan follow‑through, and program compliance.
  • Utilizes reporting tools and dashboards to support patient monitoring and population health.
  • Coordinates multi‑site scheduling and operational support for Multispecialty care teams to ensure effective clinic flow.
  • Assists with inbox management, schedule optimization, and other administrative or clinical workflows as assigned.
  • Identifies and helps implement process improvements that strengthen patient care and team efficiency.
  • Obtain and maintain provider sign‑off for performing alternate blood draw sites as required.
  • Uses CHAS Health systems and workflows while collaborating with leadership, Care Navigators, and external partners to enhance patient access, improve care coordination, streamline processes, and support departmental goals.
  • Performs all other duties of a Medical Assistant – Certified as needed, including but not limited to performing rooming, scheduling, blood draws, and other clinical services in accordance with training and clinic workflow needs.
  • Performs other duties assigned, including supporting the CHAS Health Mission and Core Values.
