General Services is currently seeking a highly skilled leader to serve as Multiple Trades Supervisor (MTS) for the Facilities Management Division. Multiple Trades Supervisor for Team A will work with a facility maintenance team to oversee approximately 1.2 million square feet of facilities including the historic City and County Building, the Wellington Webb building, Minoru Yasui and the Denver Post building. In the Multiple Trades Supervisor role, you will supervise multiple skilled trades workers in the operation, maintenance, and repair of City facilities and equipment. You will also coordinate projects that involve multiple trades areas and review work upon completion for adherence to guidelines and standards. You will assist in developing, recommending, coordinating, and implementing new policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate
  • Four (4) years of experience in journey-level skilled trades or in facility maintenance operations
  • A combination of appropriate education and experience may be substituted for the minimum education and experience requirements
  • Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application.
  • Requires a City and County of Denver certification or State License in one of the following classifications: HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Alarm, Boiler, or Refrigeration.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment

Nice To Haves

  • 7 years of supervisory experience leading a team of 10 or more
  • HVAC journey level or above certification
  • Exhibits superior leadership skills
  • Is a team player and communicates effectively with all levels
  • Has superior critical thinking, analytical, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills
  • Exudes very strong organizational and time management skills
  • Is proficient with using computers and technology; has experience in utilizing computerized work order systems
  • Has experience using building automation systems, security access systems and mechanical lock systems
  • Takes accountability in role and in meeting the goals and objectives of the department
  • Has a strong knowledge base and understanding of all phases of construction trades
  • Has proven ability and experience dealing with conflict, positively resolving conflict challenges, and not giving exceptions but remaining a champion of policies, rules, and protocols

Responsibilities

  • Reviews, develops, and/or modifies work plans, methods, and procedures, determines work priorities, and develops work schedules to provide adequate staff coverage
  • Provides work instruction, assists employees with difficult and/or unusual assignments, and encourages innovation
  • Assigns and distributes work, reviews work for accuracy and completeness, and returns assignments with recommendations for proper completion
  • Supports the department’s mission and goals, and recommends process improvements and changes in practices and procedures to increase operating efficiency and expedite workflow
  • Documents causes for disciplinary action, initiates letters of reprimand, and makes formal recommendations for disciplinary action
  • Responds to formal and informal employee grievances and prepares written responses
  • Responds to after-hours calls or emergency calls outside of normal scheduled or business hours (may be required to be on-call to address emergent needs)
  • Assists in the development of the departmental budget and allocates resources within the supervised function area in accordance with work requirements and budget constraints
  • Supervises in snow removal duties
