About The Position

This position conceptualizes, processes, and produces audio, video, animations, and interactive multimedia collateral for a variety of audiences, platforms, and outcomes. This position may have the opportunity to work hybrid where a mix of in-person work from a Boise State worksite and an alternative work location is utilized. Candidates must be able to work on-site as needed. This position is not eligible for VISA Sponsorship. Department Overview: The Division of Extended Studies is on a mission to extend higher education beyond traditional boundaries. Our collaborative teams expand student access and improve student success with innovative programs that reach across our metropolitan area, Idaho and beyond. We facilitate online education, community-based programs, concurrent enrollment at high schools, summer sessions, continuing education programs and other lifelong learning options. Join us! We partner with faculty, departments and leadership to create a high-quality online learning environment for students at Boise State and around the world. This position will contribute to creating high-quality media for online courses and fully online programs. Level Scope: Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies, and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Requirements

  • Possess graphic design, typography, video, and multimedia development skills.
  • Apply experience and knowledge with best practices to create accessible multimedia collateral.
  • Complete and balance multiple projects demonstrating strong conceptual and analytical skills, planning abilities, and sound judgment.
  • Willingly, effectively, and proactively communicate and collaborate with colleagues, supervisors, and stakeholders.
  • Must be familiar with current digital best practices and be able to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
  • Willingness to give and receive critical feedback with an open mind.
  • Thinking outside the box and finding new or better ways to solve problems more effectively.
  • Ability to provide effective customer service and to actively listen and appropriately respond to colleagues, stakeholders, and supervisor needs/requests.
  • Understanding of instructional design principles.
  • Knowledge in 3D, AR/VR, or animation.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of professional/relevant experience or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Four (4) years of demonstrated experience creating multimedia for instructional purposes.
  • 2 years of experience with Adobe CC, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
  • 1 year of experience with professional camera equipment, lighting, audio, and green-screening techniques, and proficient with Canon camera systems.
  • 1 year of experience working in Canvas (LMS) and Panopto.
  • 1 year of experience building educational games or interactives using H5P, or other interactive tools, etc.
  • Experience with project management, team leadership, and systems implementation and development.
  • Experience using Quickbase (Project Management System/Database).

Responsibilities

  • Apply visual design best practice principles to the design and development of static and interactive elements (graphics, videos, animations, interactive simulations, etc.), while maintaining university branding/graphics standards.
  • Manage multiple, simultaneous projects to reach targets, staying on schedule and on budget.
  • Understand and maintain the branding identity strategy for programs.
  • Create multimedia content for a variety of media platforms.
  • Record and edit video and audio, and provide direction/assistance to students who assist with video editing and export.
  • Perform usability testing and quality assurance of media elements used across platforms. Ensure media is accessible for all users, including those with disabilities.
  • Provide initial conception (storyboarding, etc.) and estimates for media development. Develop layout and concept designs for approvals.
  • Collaborate and communicate closely with a variety of stakeholders, both internal and external, on all aspects of projects, including planning, content, production level, and platforms, turnaround time, corrections, approvals, and project estimates.
  • Leverage analytics to determine the effectiveness of activities and make continual improvements.
  • Provide media expertise and guidance to other team members and stakeholders.
  • Research new creative tools and techniques to improve the student experience.
  • Contributing to a portfolio of innovative media elements for instructional designers to reference.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
