About The Position

The Multimedia Associate will produce and manage video and photography, video projects, working with the marketing team, department contacts, and A.S. Board of Directors to plan creative multimedia campaigns that enhance and improve brand image, and increase campus-wide awareness of programs, services, events.

Requirements

  • Technical Production: Advanced proficiency in photography, video production, and audio editing using Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, After Effects, Lightroom) or Final Cut Pro.
  • Platform Management: Demonstrated experience publishing and managing professional digital content across YouTube, Flickr, and Google Drive.
  • Social Media Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, X/Twitter, and Facebook, including platform-specific posting and scheduling workflows.
  • Engagement Strategy: Proven ability to translate campaign goals into high-quality visual content designed to drive student engagement and brand awareness.
  • Software & Administration: Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office for project management and internal communication.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple production timelines, equipment inventory, and participant logistics in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills for professional collaboration with diverse student leaders, A.S. staff, and department clients.
  • Professionalism: High degree of patience and confidence in creative problem-solving and maintaining a consistent organizational voice.
  • Must be a current SJSU student
  • Portfolio Requirement: Must provide a portfolio, demo reel, or accessible collection of work showcasing professional photography and video editing experience at the time of application.
  • Requires experience in photography, video and audio communications

Responsibilities

  • Multimedia Production: Capture and edit high-quality photography and short-form video content (e.g., Reels, TikToks) for A.S. events, campaigns, and promotional materials.
  • Portrait & Event Media: Conduct professional headshots and capture event photography for the A.S. Board of Directors, departmental teams, and election candidates.
  • Digital Asset Management: Systematically organize and archive all visual assets across Google Drive shared drives, YouTube, Flickr, and internal archives to ensure streamlined access for stakeholders.
  • Archival Research: Select and repurpose archival media to produce tailored multimedia content for social media, websites, and internal/external communications.
  • Content Distribution: Strategically post and schedule multimedia content across social media platforms, ensuring strict adherence to A.S. branding guidelines and campaign objectives.
  • Team Collaboration: Distribute finalized visual assets to department clients, the Marketing Specialist, and the Web & Social Media Associate to support cross-platform campaign execution.
  • Trend Integration: Stay current on photography, videography, and social media trends to produce fresh, engaging visual storytelling that aligns with digital strategies.
  • Equipment Oversight: Responsible for the maintenance, inventory, and organized checkout of all departmental photography, video, audio (mics/recorders), and lighting equipment.
  • Project Coordination: Manage the end-to-end participant workflow for multimedia projects, including scheduling, recruitment, and project-day logistics.
  • Operational Reporting: Provide comprehensive project status reports to the supervisor, detailing production timelines, asset delivery, and equipment status.
  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with the marketing team and student leaders to develop creative campaigns and deliver content through professional communication channels.
  • Required Training: Attend regular staff meetings and participate in required student development trainings, including bi-semester professional development and CMEG orientation sessions.
