About The Position

Join Amazon’s mission to become Earth’s safest place to work. As a Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) Manager, you will be the site's safety champion, leading the Global WHS Program implementation. This role combines hands-on safety management with strategic thinking to protect associates and drive operational excellence. You will bridge the gap between safety requirements and operational success, requiring both technical expertise and strong interpersonal skills. Working closely with Operations leadership, you will drive safety initiatives, conduct comprehensive risk assessments, analyze safety data, and implement practical solutions. Your ability to build relationships and influence positive change will be essential in shaping the safety culture. You will lead safety compliance efforts, conduct thorough site audits, analyze incident trends, and manage the first aid program and emergency response capabilities. The role involves transforming safety culture through leadership and innovative solutions, driving continuous improvement, leveraging technology and data analytics for preventive measures, developing leadership plans, communicating expectations, measuring performance against WHS policies, and building partnerships with Operations leadership to integrate safety into every aspect of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in WHS and/or environmental programs in manufacturing, production, or service operations
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities in people and performance management, or 2+ years of Amazon Safety (blue badge/FTE) experience
  • Flexibility to travel 50-70% of the time
  • Ability to work various shifts
  • Must obtain adult First Aid, CPR, AED certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 3 weeks of start date (if not already held)

Nice To Haves

  • Distribution Center or manufacturing safety experience with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees at a site of at least 250 people
  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization
  • Certified Safety Professional
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort collaborating with site leaders
  • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
  • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and the use of pivot tables and the development of charts and graphics
  • Ability to manage multiple sites/remotely
