About The Position

The Multi-craft Maintenance Technician IV works as a specialist in multiple crafts or trades and also acts as a lead for the skilled labor force within their area. The role requires highly specialized knowledge, experience and ability to independently perform and complete projects requiring a variety of crafts or trades including electrical, HVAC, plumbing, controls and piping systems including hydronic, steam and air with an emphasis on troubleshooting in all areas.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years of equivalent experience with facility maintenance operations/functions/activities. Education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience independently performing complex work in at least three of the following trades, with working knowledge in the remaining areas: Electrical Plumbing HVAC Piping Mechanical System controls
  • Skills Troubleshooting Critical thinking Problem solving Interpersonal skills Computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Certification/Licensure Commercial Master Plumber, Electrician, or Pipefitter license.
  • Commercial HVAC certification.
  • Work Experience Experience supervising a workforce of 7+ employees
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a lead within the sub-department by assigning and directing work for the skilled labor workforce, providing the manager with updates on major projects and employee performance, and serving as backup for materials requests as needed.
  • Act as supervisor in the manager's absence, coordinating staff absences and vacation leave requests based on workflow and operational demand.
  • Apply knowledge of standard practices, tools, equipment, and materials across multiple trades to perform repairs on electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Plan and lay out work assignments, determine accurate and efficient methods, and diagnose and resolve complications to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Analyze control issues, identify root causes, and implement corrections to ensure problems are fully resolved.
  • Read, interpret, and work from sketches, blueprints, schematics, and specifications to evaluate, analyze, and resolve maintenance issues.
  • Execute all aspects of the preventative maintenance process to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
  • Provide daily progress reports to the manager on project status, including projected completion times, challenges encountered, and corrective actions taken.
  • Provide guidance, troubleshoot complex issues, and serve as a subject matter resource for team members within areas of expertise
