This requisition is used to capture interested candidates in opportunities at Lockheed Martin. You can’t and will not be hired on this requisition. Actual job responsibilities, levels, and locations will vary based on actual hiring job postings. What does this role look like? We are seeking a highly motivated Multi-Body Dynamics Engineer to join our team. This role supports the analysis, modeling, and simulation of complex mechanical systems for advanced aerospace and defense applications. The selected candidate will apply rigid and flexible body dynamics principles to evaluate system performance, predict loads and environments, and inform design decisions across the product lifecycle. This position requires close collaboration with design, structural analysis, systems engineering, and test teams to ensure mechanical systems meet performance, reliability, and mission requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capability, hands-on modeling experience, and the ability to translate dynamic behavior into actionable engineering insight.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Experience in multi-body dynamics analysis, rigid body dynamics, or flexible body dynamics.
  • Experience using one or more of the following tools: ADAMS, Abaqus, Nastran, LS-DYNA, or equivalent dynamic simulation software.
  • Experience developing analytical models to predict mechanical system behavior.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and system-level requirements.
  • Active Secret security clearance required at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, missile, or defense programs.
  • Experience analyzing mechanisms, deployment systems, separation events, hoisting equipment, or ground support equipment.
  • Experience integrating flexible bodies into multi-body simulations.
  • Knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration analysis, or shock response.
  • Experience with NX/Nastran, Abaqus, ADAMS, LS-DYNA, MATLAB, or Python for post-processing and automation.
  • Experience correlating analytical models with test data.
  • Familiarity with configuration management and model documentation best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to technical and program leadership.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment supporting multiple programs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute multi-body dynamic models of complex mechanical systems using industry-standard tools.
  • Perform rigid body and flexible body dynamic simulations to assess system kinematics, loads, stability, and response.
  • Support design trades, mechanism development, and structural load predictions.
  • Analyze transient events including deployment, separation, shock, vibration, and other dynamic environments.
  • Collaborate with structural analysts to integrate dynamic loads into FEA models.
  • Support test planning, instrumentation definition, and correlation of analytical models to test data.
  • Document analysis methods, assumptions, and results in technical reports and briefings.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical recommendations to leadership and customers.
