About the team and the role: eBay, Inc. seeks MTS 1, Software Engineer in San Jose, CA What you will accomplish: Design and implement technical solutions to existing software to mitigate specific user issues utilizing experience with JVM languages (Java, Kotlin, Scala), Hadoop, and/or Node.js. Develop new product features and experiences for eBay sellers and advertisers to promote their products, manage their advertising campaigns, and improve their sales using Java/J2EE, RESTful web services, HTTP, and JSON technologies. Build highly available, scalable user-facing applications and restful public Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in an agile environment using knowledge of core computer science concepts (e.g. common data structures and algorithms), and experience in interacting with external partners and architecting the systems. Create and implement new coding and programming sequences and maintain a cadence of building, testing, and continuously deploying code utilizing experience with design patterns and experience working in a layered architecture. Research, analyze, design, develop, and test the solutions that are appropriate for the business and technology strategies. Operate within eBay’s internal open-source community where a variety of projects and codebases are shared with the team, filling in any technical gaps and contributing to technical conversations. Drive architecture discussions, produce well-documented design docs, and participate in design and code reviews. Ensure code quality and maintainability by evolving architecture and tech stack, refactoring, standards, and improving build and test systems. Develop automated tests and deliver high-quality software code to production within a short development cycle in the continuous integration and delivery environment. Partial telecommuting may be permitted from within a commutable distance.
