About The Position

Clinical Laboratory Services provides an array of timely and accurate diagnostic testing and other services to Baptist Health Corbin's patients, and to other patients and organizations in support of the facilities mission, vision and strategic priorities. The Medical Technologist prepares, performs, and records testing procedures in accordance with established criteria for various sections of the Clinical Laboratory. The role involves performing routine test procedures, assisting in the training of new staff and students, supporting instrument maintenance, and ensuring proper inventory management. The MLT processes quality control data, communicates test results and lab alert values to physicians, nurses, and clients, and collects specimens. Additionally, the MLT participates in continuing education and proficiency surveys, reports any instrument or procedural failures, and ensures accurate sample. Job Description: Performs accurate laboratory testing on blood and body fluids across all complexity levels. Follows established protocols for specimen collection, processing, analysis, and result reporting. Communicates results and critical values accurately and in a timely manner . Performs quality control, equipment calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ensures compliance with safety, infection control, PPE, and regulatory standards. Maintains a clean, safe work environment and monitors inventory and supplies. Participates in quality improvement activities, proficiency testing, and corrective actions. Supports training, competencies, continuing education, and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

  • Two years of college with courses pertaining to biology, chemistry in conjunction with completed training in an accredited program of Medical Technology or related science
  • Qualified to take certification tests from ASCP, AMT or equivalent within 1 year
