A Brief Overview Responsible for performing all testing within the clinical laboratory. Will assist in the organization of all work reported for the designated area. Will assist in maintaining and performing quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and adherence to section policies and procedures. Responsible for helping maintain an adequate inventory of reagents and supplies within the clinical laboratory site as appropriate. Performs all procedures in an efficient and accurate manner. Communicates critical values according to lab policy. Responsible for training new employees in the clinical laboratory / maintaining competency assessments within clinic laboratory setting. May perform other duties as assigned by the Laboratory Director or designee. What you will do Analyze specimens with precision and accuracy Call critical values and documented according to policy Perform analysis in a timely manner as determined by the order priority. Perform and document QC according to policy and use QC to validate testing results Recognize and document malfunctions, perform appropriate repairs when possible.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and have successfully completed an official military medical laboratory procedures course of at least a duration of 50 weeks and have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist (Laboratory Technician) Required
  • Certificate through the HHW/HEW Proficiency Examination as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist Required
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited School of Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science, with satisfactory completion of an MT or MLT program. Required
  • Clinical training associated with the degree from an accredited School of Medical Laboratory Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science Required
  • experience as a full time Medical Laboratory Technician within the clinical laboratory, hospital/clinic/reference lab setting Required
  • Medical Technologist - AAB Board of Registry Upon Hire Required
  • Medical Laboratory Scientist - American Medical Technologist Upon Hire Required
  • Medical Technologist - American Society for Clinical Pathology Upon Hire Required
  • Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Department of Health and Human Services Upon Hire Required
  • Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Department of Health, Education, and Welfare Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • experience including blood bank, communicating with regulatory inspectors, The Joint Commission standards, managing processes and workflow preferred.
  • Ability to be flexible, working different shifts and in different clinical laboratory areas.
  • Ability to work closely with management to ensure processes and procedures are implemented and maintained within the work group.
  • Ability to use open communication between coworkers, physicians, hospital and clinic employee partners and healthcare leaders.
