About The Position

This position will assist the Maintenance Rating Program Team Leader conducting visual and mechanical evaluations of routine highway maintenance conditions. The purpose of these evaluations is to provide information that is used to schedule and prioritize routine maintenance activities and provide uniform maintenance conditions that meet established Departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of: The Maintenance Rating Program.
  • Practices and principles as related to road/bridge construction and maintenance.
  • Skills in: Applying engineering quantitative techniques.
  • Inventory data collection, storage and reporting processes.
  • Ability to: Work outdoors for extended periods of time (standing, walking and bending) in various weather conditions or terrain.
  • Communicate on a one to one and group level.
  • Due to the nature of this position, incumbent must respond to emergencies.
  • Valid Class "E" driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency.
  • Valid Class “E” Driver’s License.
  • Candidates must be United States (U.S.) citizens or lawfully authorized alien workers.
  • Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, will not be eligible for hire or promotion in the Career Service, or appointment in the Selected Exempt Service (SES) or Senior Management Service (SMS), unless they are registered with the Selective Service System (SSS) before their 26th birthday, or have a Letter of Registration Exemption from the SSS.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Maintenance Rating Program (MRP) Team Leader, Quality Assurance Coordinator, and supervisor by reporting routine maintenance conditions as they exist in the field. Attend annual training to learn the most recent methods of evaluating the Department's roadways for the MRP.
  • Assist MRP Team Leader, Quality Assurance Coordinator, and supervisor with inputting MRP data into the computer. Assists in preparing MRP reports to be used for advising management of the conditions of roadways for each Maintenance Cost Center.
  • Assist MRP Team Leader with technical studies. Reviews studies with MRP Team Leader and supervisor to verify accuracy of all information.
  • Assist MRP Team Leader, Quality Assurance Coordinator, and supervisor with Districtwide quality reviews of the MRP.
  • Keep current in practices and principles as related to road/bridge construction and maintenance.
  • Assist MRP Team Leader with the preparation and scheduling of the MRP inspections/evaluations.
  • Keep current in the procedures and other documents necessary to perform MRP evaluations.
