About The Position

The MRO Buyer is responsible for the timely ordering of adequate inventory of maintenance and repair parts to support manufacturing operations. This position orders parts as needed, expedites critical items, oversees local area pickup of supplies, and maintains computerized purchase orders and inventory files. Continuously seeks to reduce supply costs through price negotiations, inventory programs, part substitutions, and repair versus replace analysis. Essential Functions Leads MRO activities in the plant; encompassing processes and procedures for ordering, receiving, storing, and dispatching of materials. Work with and manage all parts distributors. Drives good internal/external customer and vendor relationships. Orders all items needed for mills and general operations. Obtains quotes for MRO items. Continually seeks to reduce supply costs through price negotiations. Review all receipts of supplies and compare against orders. Compare prices and volume discounts to determine best overall costs. Interface with suppliers to order correct items. May occasionally perform special projects. Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in related field; or 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate initiative-taking solutions across functional areas and various levels of the organization.
  • Strong computer skills: Microsoft Office.
  • Self-directed; working well without supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience working in ERP/CMMS system, Visual and/or other purchasing related systems.
