About The Position

The MRI technologist provides MRI images as directed by the physicians, nurses, or other clinicians; maintains radiology equipment and supplies; and assists physicians and clinical staff as needed. This is a PRN position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist license required
  • Certified MRI license required
  • Experience working in the MRI industry
  • Complete understanding of MRI techniques and associated physics
  • Working knowledge of managed care basics, and experience working with a managed care and Medicare population
  • Comfortable using email and interacting with Internet applications
  • Knowledge of practice management and word processing software
  • Pleasant speaking voice and demeanor
  • Good communication skills
  • Neat, professional appearance

Nice To Haves

  • Training in orthopedics a plus

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and thoroughly explains the examination
  • Provide a detailed response to any question that the patient may have related to their examination.
  • Prepare patients for MRI procedure by positioning them in such a way that causes the least discomfort; instruct patient about how to position their body appropriately
  • Obtain high quality, diagnostic images of the anatomy requested by the physician using appropriate safety precautions
  • Capture and transmit images according to designated MRI protocol
  • Possess knowledge to operate all MRI scanners within the practice
  • Mark the encounter form to reflect the MRI exam performed
  • Receive outside exams as they are delivered to the practice and import them into the PACS system
  • Takes inventory of radiology stock and communicate supply shortages to the manager
  • Ensure radiology equipment is in good working order. The technologist should communicate any maintenance issues to the radiology manager
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on x-ray equipment; ensure that equipment complies with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a clean and organized exam room
  • Transfer images to a disc in the event they are needed outside the office
  • Create and maintain written safety policies for use of radiologic equipment and proper procedures for patient safety
  • Comply with all OSHA mandates for dosimeter readings and quality assurance
  • Maintain knowledge of the anatomical views according to each physicians’ preference
  • Participate in professional development activities and maintain professional affiliations
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of practice management and other computer software as it relates to job functions
  • Attend annual CPR, OSHA and CLIA training programs
  • Attend all regular meetings and provides feedback as it relates to radiology
  • Perform other tasks and projects assigned by supervisor or physicians
