About The Position

General Statement of Position: Under the direction of the Mowing Crew Leader, maintains turf and open areas of the District and assists in the maintenance of mowing equipment.

Requirements

Must have a valid Illinois driver's license
Protective clothing is required as follows: earplugs, ear covers, helmets, respirators, safety goggles/glasses
Must use good safety awareness and judgment
Use material-handling equipment or staff assistance when lifting and or moving objects of 50lbs or greater
Promptly report any work-related or patron related injuries to supervisor
Correct unsafe conditions and/or report them to a supervisor
Becomes thoroughly familiar with the Safety Manual Contents
Properly orients and continues to train employees on safety procedures
Cooperates with the Safety Coordinator in implementing all aspects of the safety policies and procedures as outlined by the Park District
Must be able to use personal protective equipment based on job specific tasks and may include, but is not limited to, the following: Safety goggles/ glasses Earplugs, ear covers Appropriate work boot Protective gloves Helmets
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization

Basic mechanical knowledge in equipment maintenance and repair and experience in grounds maintenance are preferred
