About The Position

SUMMARY: Coordinate and direct the mounting department and order plates and sleeves as needed. Operate the mounting machine in the safest, most effective and efficient manner while adhering to established quality standards. SHIFT: 12 hr Days, 7am-7pm ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Participate in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the STOP Safety Program fundamentals to aid American Packaging Corporation’s efforts to achieve a zero-accident rate. Complete a minimum of 2 STOP cards per month. Orders all replacement plates. Orders Sleeves needed. Selects and tracks all sleeves for laminations and assigns them to orders. Also assigns sleeves that need to be machined for lamination orders. Track plates for wear. Coordinate mounting area. Train mounters on techniques in mounting. Coordinate mounting schedule. Mount plates safely and accurately. Understand sticky back usage in relation to press operation. Help in the coordination of scheduling with mounting & press. Assist in Press set-ups as needed. Locate sleeves located in upstairs storage. Utilize computers to call information on the job to mount. Cut stickyback tape to specific lengths. Label and properly store plates daily. Retrieve and change cylinders/gears per job specifications. Develop and have knowledge of sleeve inventory. Perform general housekeeping duties. Ensure proofing ink is applied regularly and cleaned after every color. Attend and participate in all scheduled meetings (Continuous Quality Improvement, safety, special projects, departmental, etc.). Comply with all company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred, but not necessary
  • Acceptable prior work history
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute percentages and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
