What You'll Do As A Motor Vehicle Inspector Inspect motor vehicles including motor homes, campers, school buses, church buses, self-assembled vehicles, & salvage vehicles to determine whether they are unsafe or improperly equipped, or that equipment is in proper adjustment or repair as required by law by entering & exiting vehicles & bends, stoops & utilizes mechanics' "creeper" in order to crawl under vehicle to visually check vehicle mechanical components. Enter & retrieve information using numerous Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) databases. Complete inspection forms & affix inspection decals to those vehicles which pass. Operate state owned motor vehicle inspection vehicle to transport equipment used in motor vehicle inspection. Inform the owner &/or operator of repairs or adjustments which are necessary to place the vehicle in safe condition.
