The Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking a team player to join the Driver Control (DC) unit. Duties may include viewing driving records, processing suspensions, compliances, and reinstatements. The Specialist will be responsible for processing Commercial Drivers License (CDL) applications as well as DOT medical examiner certificates. The position will also be responsible for working and updating AAMVA related tasks. This is a unique position in which you will interact with Vermonters on a daily basis, and the ability to provide excellent written and verbal communication is required. Due to the nature of the position, difficult, unique, and sensitive issues may be addressed. The individual may have direct customer contact. This is not a remote position, and work takes place within the Montpelier DMV. The incumbent will work from 7:45 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.This position, Motor Vehicle CDL Specialist I (Job Requisition #54400), is open to all State employees and external applicants. Incumbents must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure before the public eye, from telephone and email inquiries. Due to public contact, verbal abuse, varying workloads and tight deadlines stress induced or contagious illness is a daily risk. Incumbents must be able to multi-task, prioritize unpredictable workloads, deal with confused, frustrated, highly upset customers and handle large sums of money. Incumbents can anticipate some stressful situations, strong differences of opinion and threat of harm from irate customers. Stress may be involved in coping with large volumes of work and meeting production deadlines.
