About The Position

The Motor Shop Technician will inspect, analyze, test, measure, repair and perform full or partial overhauls on assemblies or subassemblies of directional motors, and other oilfield drilling components. The Motor Shop Technician will perform entire disassembly and reassembly of equipment to pristine condition and ensure that all tools and test equipment are fully serviceable prior to the start of repair work and are fully accounted for after each repair. Non-technical duties will include routine house cleaning of the yard and shop spaces and equipment, cleaning equipment, moving equipment around the yard and participating in various meetings, trainings and development activities. Detailed Description: Trouble shoot and diagnose the problem of equipment brought to the maintenance shop Assemble and disassemble directional motors, and other oilfield drilling components Operate the Torque Master machine for assembly and disassembly Perform all tests and repair in strict compliance with the manufacturer’s service manual and bulletins Quality control of parts to determine whether they need to be repaired or replaced List parts to be replaced referring to the manufacturer’s manuals and diagrams Look up all necessary repair parts and order them as needed Document inspections, test results, repair work done and parts replaced for proper billing and record upkeep Ensure the yard and shop spaces are clean and organized Ensure that all equipment is clean and in good working order Safely operate forklift to move equipment around the yard Participate in all required meetings, training and development activities Ability to communicate, including ability to read, write, and speak English and to promptly follow verbal and written directions in English. Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools
  • Ability to safely navigate the yard and shop work sites with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather)
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment
  • Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
  • Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas
  • Ability to operate Torque Master machine as required.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand power section fit tolerances
  • Demonstrate clear written and verbal communication skills including ability to promptly give, and follow, directions when working with others and ability to interact productively with coworkers and third parties
  • Identifying lobe and stage configurations of the power section.
  • Able to explain and demonstrate the proper applied torque values for each component of the mud motor
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times
  • Willing to be on call after hours, work extended schedules, including extra days, nights, weekends and holidays.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ years Motor Shop experience

Nice To Haves

  • Quality control experience with vector gauges and RA meter and other measurement equipment
