About The Position

Join our team of leaders in electrical power system maintenance, repair, testing, and training. Due to continued growth, we are seeking experienced Electric Motor Shop Mechanics to service and repair large motors and generators in our Irving Texas shop. Shermco is ISO certified, a member of EASA, AWEA, PEARL and is accredited by NETA, PEV, SKF & ANAB. Responsibilities Premium Pay Structure We value your time and commitment—and we pay accordingly. Daily Overtime Over 8 hours/day: 1.5× base hourly rate Over 12 hours/day: 2× base hourly rate Saturday Work First 8 hours: 1.5× base hourly rate Over 12 hours: 2× base hourly rate Sunday Work All hours: 2× base hourly rate Holiday Pay All hours worked on a company holiday: 3× base hourly rate Test, inspect, evaluate, dismantle, repair, and reassemble AC and DC electric motors, generators, and pumps. Disassemble and remove armature, stator or rotor from frame or stators. Examine coil connections for broken or defective wiring. Examine all parts for cracks, wear, rubbing, broken or out of tolerances for specific parameters. Remove bearings from shafts and/or housings. Examine bearings, shafts, and other moving parts for excessive wear of defects. Test coils, armatures, stators, rotors and field coils for continuity, shorts and grounds and insulation resistance Measure and record machined parts fits. Prepare parts for assembly. Assemble and test rotating machine for specified performance.

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience on inspecting, dismantling, and reassembly of large AC and DC industrial motors or wind generators up to 3,000 HP.
  • Experience safely operating overhead cranes.
  • Must be able to safely lift and maneuver up to 75 lbs
  • Must be and remain Drug-Free; subject to periodic, unannounced random drug tests.
  • Must have and maintain a good criminal background check.
  • All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening.
  • Must be willing and able to work regular overtime including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  • Must be able to fluently read, write and speak English.
