About The Position

Pennian Bank is seeking a detail-oriented Mortgage Specialist to support all stages of the mortgage loan process. This role provides administrative and operational support for processing, closing, funding, and selling mortgage loans while ensuring regulatory and internal policy compliance.

  • Education/Training: Associate’s degree in finance or related field, or comparable work experience desired.
  • NMLS licensing is not required.
  • Skill(s): Proficient reading, writing, grammar, and mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations, communicative, and collaborative; a thorough knowledge of the features and benefits of all bank products and services; a working knowledge of bank operating policies and procedures; excellent PC skills including various software applications and programs such as Encompass; demonstrated leadership skills; visual and auditory skills; valid driver's license.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years' experience in mortgage lending, 1+ years’ experience in mortgage lending as a loan processor, closer or underwriter.
  • Working knowledge of different mortgage loan types, mortgage industry regulations, residential mortgages and guidelines, ULDD, underwriting guidelines, HMDA and secondary market locking/funding/shipping requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with mortgage regulations and lending practices (preferred)
  • Prior experience with Encompass preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review mortgage files for HMDA compliance and report deficiencies.
  • Complete and maintain documentation for withdrawn and adverse loan files.
  • Assist with secondary market activities, including locking, funding, selling, and shipping loans.
  • Provide post-closing follow-up for missing documents and investor requests.
  • Serve as backup for mortgage processors and closers as needed.
  • Support construction loan management during the draw phase, ensuring inspections are ordered and funds disbursed to contractors on a timely schedule.
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and respond to internal inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with all bank policies, regulatory requirements, and fair lending standards.
