POSITION SUMMARY: The primary purpose of this position is to provide excellent member service to current and potential Credit Union members. This is accomplished by notifying current and potential credit union members of mortgage product details and evaluating each members’ situation to suggest which mortgage product would most accurately meet their needs. Other duties include assisting members with filling out the mortgage application; reviewing applications for completeness, ensuring that all necessary documents are provided with the application, and sending out initial disclosures. The Mortgage Originator is also responsible for maintaining a loan application database, coordinating with Private Mortgage Insurance companies when applicable, and performing other duties as requested. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND SUPPORTING DUTIES: Meet with loan applicants to identify their needs and collect information to start the mortgage process. Acquire authorization to obtain credit reports. Obtain and review credit report data to determine potential eligibility and what product may best suite the applicants needs and or request. Upload all data into the loan operating system to ensure all RESPA and HMDA information is recorded properly. Utilize the data supplied by the applicant the Mortgage Loan Originator is to determine the loan amount, loan to value, and allowable debt to income based on product guidelines. Responsible for utilizing the appropriate underwriting engine to validate a conditional approval or denial. Issue a “conditional” pre-approval to purchase money applicant(s) if appropriate. Responsible for delivering a loan estimate to the applicant(s), loan application and disclosures within required timeframe to remain compliant. Explain Credit Union membership, appraisal fee, and set timelines. Gather necessary documents prior to submission. Maintain a company-provided cell phone with accessibility during and after working hours, to include evenings and weekends. Perform tasks and duties during non-traditional working hours to meet the needs of the member(s) and company, this may include evenings and weekends. Develop and maintain realtor relationships. Perform other duties as assigned.
