About The Position

Guide residential mortgage lending and operational activity; implement strategies to achieve goals developed for the department and support Bank business objectives; responsible for leading mortgage loan operations, including processing, closing, and post-closing; ensure department compliance with Bank operating policies and procedures and outside regulatory requirements; direct supervision of assigned personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field; specialized bank mortgage lending education and training.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of relevant experience in mortgage lending and retail banking; minimum five (5) years of management experience.
  • Excellent reading, verbal and written communication, mathematical, computer, problem solving, interpersonal relations, and management skills; thorough working knowledge of current mortgage lending regulations, Bank operating policies and procedures that impact mortgage loan services, and features and benefits of Bank loan products and services; valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high-performing mortgage operations team.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to define and execute delivery for mortgage lending strategies.
  • Drive process improvements and technology adoption to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the end-to-end mortgage loan process, ensuring timely and accurate processing, underwriting, closing, and funding.
  • Ensure adherence to investor guidelines (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA) and internal credit policies.
  • Manage pipeline reporting, loan quality metrics, and service level agreements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state mortgage regulations (e.g., TRID, RESPA, HMDA).
  • Partner with Compliance and Audit teams to ensure regulatory readiness and mitigate operational risk.
  • Implement and monitor quality control and post-closing audit procedures.
  • Foster a culture of service excellence for both internal and external customers.
  • Support community outreach and affordable housing initiatives aligned with the bank’s mission.
  • Serve as a resource for complex loan scenarios and escalated issues.
  • Optimize use of the bank’s Loan Origination System (LOS) and other mortgage technologies.
  • Manage relationships with third-party vendors, including appraisal management companies, title providers, and document custodians.
