About The Position

GTE Financial is seeking a Mortgage Loan Executive who is an exceptional listener and genuine relationship builder. This role involves managing day-to-day sales and support for mortgage applications from various sources including community financial centers, web, external referrals, and in-bound phone inquiries. The Loan Executive will ensure member loan requests meet their needs, review credit, analyze automated underwriting decisions, handle initial document requests from borrowers, and prepare loans for underwriting review. The position requires proactive engagement with members, community organizations, realtors, and builders to develop referral strategies and solicit new residential mortgage business. It also involves a deep understanding of various loan products (secondary market, FHA, VA, CU Portfolio) and GTE's full suite of lending products, communicating lending decisions, and maintaining mortgage acumen. The role emphasizes strategic service level expectations, strong interpersonal skills, and a desire to provide exceptional member experience through needs-based selling. Compliance with federal regulations, including the Safe Act and Bank Secrecy Act, is mandatory. All work responsibilities are subject to performance goals and/or targets established as part of the annual performance planning process or as the result of organizational goal/production planning. The position is full-time and hybrid, requiring additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.

  • Ability to handle multiple job responsibilities and tasks to accomplish goals and objectives

  • Min 1 -3 years’ experience or combination of education and experience

  • Hybrid candidates must live within driving distance of the office location and be able to regularly commute to and from the office location as needed (for Remote/Hybrid Work)

Responsibilities

  • Managing the day-to-day sales and support with applications coming from our community financial centers, web, external referral sources and in-bound phone inquiries
  • Ensure that member loan requests meet the members’ needs
  • Review credit
  • Review automated underwriting decisions
  • Make, and follow up on initial document requests from the borrowers
  • Prepare loans for underwriting review
  • Meeting with and counseling members on new mortgage loan options as determined by the current product guidelines
  • Engage with Community Financial Center teammates to develop quality referral strategies through product training and sales technique
  • Engagement with community organizations to develop a circle of influence for referrals
  • Participation in realtor events and activities, lead groups and local chamber membership
  • Proactively solicit new residential mortgage business and represent GTE in the market
  • Develop and maintain referral contacts and professional relationships with realtors, builders, etc.
  • Analyze all loan file documentation to begin prequalification process, moving into full loan application entered Loan Operating System (LOS)
  • Communicate lending decisions with regards to denials or counter-offers upfront
  • Retain and enhance mortgage acumen and maintain knowledge of mortgage products/services offered by the credit union
  • Reinforce the selling points of our loan types, rates, payments, and terms of mortgage products
  • Qualify for NMLS registration according to the Safe Act
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal regulations and disclose correct information to members as required by law
  • Engage in weekly or bi-weekly team meetings, conference calls, and events as assigned
  • Implement actions plans to focus on areas of opportunity with all lending products
