Mortgage Loan Closer ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT Prepare closing documents and packages for all mortgage programs. The incumbent ensures that the documents are prepared accurately, with attention to detail and in a timely manner as errors can be costly to VyStar, damage member relationships and public image. Coordinates closing through settlement agents and branches. Ensures funding documents are received and sends funds within set department standard timeframes. Completes a funding checklist to ensure funds are eligible for delivery to the title agent. Completes necessary functions within the LOS to ensure loans are boarded correctly. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Manages active loan closing pipeline in accordance with regulatory guidelines and loan specific deadlines. Review title commitment and/or title search reports, homeowner insurance and closing conditions to ensure compliance with underwriting requirements. Coordinates the scheduling of all mortgage loan closings through title agents, attorneys, and Credit Union branches. Coordinates efforts with all Mortgage Fulfillment staff to meet closing deadlines and department goals Write closing instructions, prepare closing packages and submit to title agents, attorneys, Credit Union branches, and notary signing agents. Prepare and reconcile closing disclosures and verify all closing conditions have been satisfied to ensure proper lien position and comply with Fannie Mae and internal underwriting requirements. Accurately input all information into mortgage software system(s) to complete closing data. Deliver final closing disclosure and closing package timely to ensure compliance with CFPB, RESPA and Regulation Z requirements. Review executed documents and issue funding approval. Prepare loans for disbursement. Complete funding worksheet and distribute funds timely via wire transfer or transfer via internal software system. Receive inbound calls and make outbound calls to members and third parties, such as realtors, title agents and attorneys. Ensure all closings and fundings are completed in accordance with all applicable state and federal regulations. Fully documents loan to support Closer’s actions for quality assurance. Responsible for knowing department goals as well as Credit Union goals and pro-actively works toward attainment of those goals Consistently adheres to VyStar core values and Code of Ethics and acts in accordance with corporate defined values and ethics Identify and make recommendations to Senior Mortgage Loan Closer, Mortgage Closing Supervisor Mortgage Closing Manager and/or department Vice President regarding process improvements, quality service and increased efficiencies within the closing unit. Performs other duties as assigned All employees and business units, as first line of defense, are expected to proactively help identify, assess, manage, and report risks within their domain of work. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Continuing education via local conferences and workshops is required for updates on federal regulations and secondary market requirements.
  • A minimum of two years recent experience in a mortgage closing and consumer interaction position.
  • Computer literacy is required.
  • Incumbent must have knowledge and experience in working with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Applicant must have positive, well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal, be detail oriented, have good organizational and active listening skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and proven ability to work with others.
  • Must have professional conduct and appearance and be self-motivated.
  • Must work under the philosophy of “people helping people” and be able to communicate with members on all levels.
  • Must be able to work independently on a very professional level.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with conventional and equity loan financing as well as the knowledge of all regulations governing mortgage lending is preferred.
