About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Mortgage Loan Closer to join our team! This is an in-office position at our Grand Rapids office. At least 2 years of mortgage loan closing or loan processing experience is required. A Mortgage Loan Closer is responsible for ensuring that mortgage loans are accurately prepared, compliant with regulations, and ready for a smooth closing experience. The Loan Closer serves as the final checkpoint before closing. The responsibilities of a Loan Closer include reviewing documentation, balancing closing disclosures, and coordinating with internal teams and settlement agents to ensure every transaction closes successfully and on time. Requirements

  • At least 2 years of experience in mortgage loan closing, loan processing, or mortgage operations is required.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing highly accurate work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage deadline in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience working in Encompass is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all state requirements.
  • Manage and maintain an active closing and funding pipeline.
  • Monitor the Initial Closing Disclosure (ICD) queue to ensure loans are meeting the expected closing timelines.
  • Ensure that all loans remain compliant with regulatory and company guidelines throughout the closing process.
  • Collaborate closely with Loan Processors, Underwriters, Compliance teams, and Title/Settlement agents.
  • Verify the accuracy of all essential loan information and documents, such as vesting, homeowner's insurance, title work, and fees.
  • Prepare and balance the Final Closing Disclosure, working with title companies to confirm final numbers.
  • Verify and order title company wire information.
  • Confirm all underwriting conditions and quality control requirements have been satisfied prior to closing.
  • Communicate proactively with internal and external partners to resolve any closing issues quickly.
  • Prepare and deliver the final closing package to the settlement agent prior to closing.
  • Follow up with settlement agents to obtain required funding and post-closing documentation.
