About The Position

The Mortgage and Consumer Processor is responsible for managing the administrative and processing aspects of mortgage and consumer loan applications. This role ensures that all required documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with the bank's guidelines and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and organized professional who can efficiently manage the complexities of loan processing while ensuring compliance and high standards of quality. The Processor works closely with loan originators, underwriters, and closing agents to facilitate a smooth, efficient loan process from application to closing.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in loan processing, mortgage, or consumer lending within a banking or financial services environment.
  • Familiarity with mortgage and consumer loan products, processing procedures, and regulatory requirements is preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in data entry, document management, and the use of loan processing software.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and industry best practices in loan processing.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Being able to sit or stand for long periods of time and being able to effectively communicate with others.

Responsibilities

  • Review and verify loan applications and supporting documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Enter and update loan data into the bank's processing system, ensuring timely and accurate processing of mortgage and consumer loans.
  • Maintain organized, electronic and/or paper loan files for audit and regulatory purposes.
  • Coordinate with loan originators, underwriters, and closing agents to ensure all necessary documents are received and processed in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with lenders to request additional documentation or clarification as needed.
  • Serve as a liaison between various internal departments to facilitate the smooth progression of loan applications.
  • Ensure that all loan processing activities adhere to the bank's policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform routine quality checks and audits on loan files to identify discrepancies and resolve issues.
  • Assist in preparing documentation for internal audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processing workflows and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support initiatives aimed at automating manual processes and enhancing the accuracy and speed of loan processing.
  • Provide feedback on system enhancements and participate in training to stay current with industry best practices.
  • Prepare and distribute regular reports on processing activities, loan status, and operational metrics to management.
  • Assist in handling inquiries and resolving issues related to loan processing from both internal teams and customers.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all borrower and loan information in accordance with privacy and security protocols.
