About The Position

Monitor Technicians function as a member of the Patient Care Team at OSF HealthCare. They are responsible for observing, monitoring, and interpreting patients’ EKG rhythms from a remote viewing station. They assemble and maintain logs and are able to recognize and identify cardiac rhythms, alarms, and emergent situations. The role also involves the assembly, maintenance, cleaning, and tracking of equipment. Monitor Technicians assemble and maintain patient charts, ensuring documents are filed and scanned into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in a timely manner. They communicate with nursing staff and may run errands upon request. Additionally, the position performs duties and tasks related to the acceptance, registration, and electronic transfer of patients, utilizing tools such as fax/copy machines, Hyland scanner, and the pneumatic tube system.

Requirements

• High School/GED

Nice To Haves

• 6 or more months experience in customer service
• Computer knowledge
• Able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and computer messaging

Responsibilities

• Observe, monitor, and interpret patients’ EKG rhythms per remote viewing station
• Assemble and maintain logs
• Recognize and identify cardiac rhythms, alarms, and emergent situations
• Assemble, maintain, clean, and track equipment
• Assemble and maintain patient charts ensuring documents are filed and scanned into EMR in a timely manner
• Communicate with nursing staff
• Run errands for the staff upon request
• Perform duties and tasks related to acceptance, registration, and electronic transfer of patients
• Utilize fax/copy machines, Hyland scanner, and pneumatic tube system
