About The Position

Cleveland Clinic Martin North Hospital is a fully integrated, state-of-the-art medical campus that includes diagnostic centers, outpatient surgery and a 24-hour emergency department. Martin North Hospital is part of the world-renowned Cleveland Clinic, a nonprofit, multispecialty, academic medical center that integrates clinical and hospital care with research and education. The Central Monitoring Unit (CMU) serves as a live control center, with caregivers monitoring patients 24/7 to enhance care and safety. As a Monitor Technician, you will perform ongoing surveillance of patients' cardiac monitors and provide appropriate nursing staff with timely notification of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact patient condition. This role not only offers flexibility, but also the chance to move into other roles within the organization after enhancing your skills. A PRN caregiver in this position works varying nights from 7:00PM - 7:30AM. Working a minimum of 4 shifts per 6-week period is required. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs. Provide appropriate nursing staff with timely notification of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact patient condition. Interpret patient cardiac/hemodynamic rhythm and document in the electronic medical record. Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information. Orient and mentor new caregivers, serving as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units. Provide reports for the oncoming shift.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities through formal training program in Allied Health or a healthcare field (e.g., Nursing, Medical Assisting, EMT or a similar field) OR one year of patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home or healthcare setting
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of EKG/Cardiac Monitoring Course
  • Experience as a Monitor Technician
  • Demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms
  • EMT, paramedic or firefighter experience
