About The Position

As a Monitor Tech, you will be responsible for continuous observation and analysis of patients' cardiac rhythms to detect and report changes. Every day you will meticulously monitor EKG strips, identify arrhythmias, measure intervals, and promptly communicate critical findings to nursing staff and healthcare providers, ensuring accurate documentation. To be successful, you will demonstrate sharp observational skills, a thorough understanding of cardiac rhythms, and the ability to act quickly and precisely under pressure, crucial for patient safety and timely intervention. Assign tele-box to patients who have telemetry ordered for them. Add patient demographics into the central monitor. Run one strip per patient every shift and/or as needed for rhythm changes or dysrhythmias (Some patient care situations may require more frequently run strips) and place strip(s) in the patient's chart. Place the strips on the monitor tracing record with the name, date, time and interpretation. Review dysrhythmias and clear appropriately at least every four hours as needed. Monitor patient in appropriate lead that reflects goals of monitoring such as potential areas of ischemia, infarction, ectopy.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate General Studies or 2 years equivalent work experience.
  • High School GED General Studies or 2 years equivalent work experience.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (AHA), upon hire
  • Dysrhythmia Certificate
  • quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire
