About The Position

The Molding Engineering Manager is a senior staff position responsible for all sustaining engineering and continuous improvement activities within the molding work center, supporting external customers as well as four other internal device assembly work centers. In addition, this position will lead a team of process engineers who receive new tools being transferred from the new product introduction team into production. Key metrics include safety, quality, delivery and cost with equipment efficiency, yield and up-time being direct contributors to on-time delivery, backorder, budget variance, and continuous improvement value add. This position will report to the site Director of Engineering and will collaborate closely with Production (internal customer), Quality, New Product Introduction, Finance and Sales.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering field
  • 10+ years of injection molding experience
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience focused on medical/healthcare markets.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles (continuous improvement project execution preferred).
  • Experience with cost estimating and financial analysis.
  • Strong customer service orientation (internal and external customers).
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong positive collaborative working relationships with interdepartmental team members, gaining the trust and ability to influence the other team members in working together toward a common goal.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication and presentation skills with the ability to interact with various audiences. Must be able to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
  • Strong leadership skills, including consensus building, openness to new ideas, and the ability to motivate.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to simplify complex ideas and processes.
  • Detailed-oriented and organized, able to prioritize and consistently follow through on tasks, assignments, projects, etc.

  • Ensures all processes conform to OSHA standards and minimize the safety risk for employees working with the processes.
  • Inspires a commitment to quality within the process/sustaining engineering team and in support of the operations team.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement projects to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost, continually adding value to existing operations.
  • Medical industry expert with solid execution of 21 CFR part 820 and ISO 13485 requirements.
  • Direct service provides to internal and external customers, understanding and delivering on their expectations within medical injection molding and pad printing.
  • Strong knowledge of automation processes. This position will lead engineers and suppliers to improve current automation and qualify new automation cells.
  • Hands-on team player that leads by example and coaches others for improvement.
  • Expected travel is low, as the focus of this role is production support in the Biomerics Salt Lake City manufacturing plant (expected travel likely less than 5%).
