About The Position

At ArtiFlex Manufacturing , we’re looking for a Polisher to join our skilled and close-knit team of toolmakers, machinists, and supervisors. This role is critical to the quality and performance of our die casting and plastic injection molds. You’ll be responsible for finishing, polishing, and repairing molds to meet exact surface finish, dimensional, and cosmetic requirements. If you have some experience in a mold shop and want to continue building your skills, we’re ready to help you grow and become proficient.

Requirements

  • Basic understanding of mechanical components and shop tools
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Team-first mindset—we rely on each other in a small shop environment
  • Familiarity using stones, diamond files, sandpaper, polishing compounds, die grinders, bench grinders, rotary tools, lapping tools, buffing wheels, and measuring tools

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience polishing molds for die casting or plastic injection molding
  • Experience with SPI, VDI, and customer-specific surface finish standards
  • Knowledge of EDM texture removal and re-polishing
  • Familiarity with mold spotting and bench fitting
  • Strong understanding of polishing techniques and mold finishes
  • Basic knowledge of mold steels and heat-treated components
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and surface finish specifications

Responsibilities

  • Polish and finish die casting and plastic injection molds using hand tools and power equipment
  • Remove machining marks, weld marks, EDM texture, scratches, and surface defects
  • Achieve specified surface finishes (SPI, VDI, mirror, matte, and customer-specific requirements)
  • Perform bench work including stoning, lapping, sanding, buffing, and spotting
  • Work with hardened steels, aluminum, copper alloys, and other mold materials
  • Interpret blueprints, CAD prints, and work instructions
  • Maintain mold integrity by preventing dimensional changes during polishing
  • Inspect finished work using visual inspection and measuring tools
  • Collaborate with toolmakers, CNC machinists, and supervisors to meet build schedules
