The MOHS Histotechnician is responsible for operating and maintain the Mohs laboratory including preparing and assessing all specimens for Mohs procedures, cataloging and storing specimens, providing feedback to the physician as appropriate, and maintaining all quality assurance materials for the laboratory. Job Relationships Reports to the Operations Manager Principal Responsibilities Perform daily functions of the Mohs laboratory including opening lab for daily functions, assisting in the collection and transport of specimens and accessioning specimens. Operate and perform lab quality assurance on all instruments and functions of the Mohs laboratory including routine cleaning and maintenance. Prepare tissue samples for microscopic evaluation, including freezing the tissue, cutting, staining, mounting and preparing sample tissues for Mohs surgeon to review. Maintain an organized filing system for all materials used in the Mohs laboratory, such as slides, Mohs logs, Mohs maps, and any additional material. Maintain clinical competency in Mohs and lab procedures including maintaining compliance with all CLIA high-complexity standards and requirements. Maintain and order supplies needed in the Mohs laboratory. Maintain all functions of the Mohs Quality Assurance program and assist in the development and maintenance of Mohs lab policies, procedures and resources. Assist in training of new staff. Comply with the Springfield Clinic incident reporting policy and procedures. Adhere to all OSHA and Springfield Clinic training & accomplishments as required per policy. Provide excellent customer service and adhere to SC Way customer service philosophy. Perform other job duties as assigned.
