Microsoft Cloud Operations and Innovation (CO+I) is the team behind the cloud. Within CO+I, the Datacenter Engineering (DCE) team is responsible for delivering critical infrastructure for Microsoft’s cloud business. The MS portfolio consists of complex, multi-disciplinary, large scale, multi-year datacenter construction and lease projects. We are looking for a Modularization Manager to help build the cloud datacenters that power the world’s largest online services. The Modularization Manager will play a key leadership role in further developing Microsoft’s datacenter modularization program. The successful candidate will bring with them years of industry experience in developing owner-driven concepts to be designed, manufactured, commissioned and delivered to datacenter projects globally. The successful candidate will be a key member of Microsoft’s DCE Modularization team and will engage with key MS stakeholders, authorities having jurisdiction as well as outside consultants and contractors that specialize in datacenter engineering builds. This position will manage multiple projects globally and be part of the core team that's launching the Microsoft cloud infrastructure worldwide. Candidates should bring experience in any of the below design or management tasks: Design of Preassemblies/Modules for transportation/installation Submissions of engineering deliverables incorporating modularization Fabrication yard management and in the selection and auditing of fabrication yard globally Selecting sourcing strategies for modules dependent on regions Project and/or Engineering management of Modularized Projects, both in design development and execution phases Coordination of project engineering tasks with stakeholders for modularized projects (both internal & external) In addition to organizational leadership and people management duties, the candidate may be assigned to deliver project specific solutions as well as fleetwide innovations with the goal of delivering cloud capacity given improved schedules, quality, lower cost and predictability. The Modularization Manager will be responsible for coordinating the conceptual development and delivery of modular solutions using innovative technology and advanced concept deployments. This role will require program management skills, engineering direction, decision-making and overall leadership through all disciplines and phases within the associated charters.
