About The Position

Otis is searching for a Modernization Mechanical Engineer who will work with our local field offices to provide engineering services and support on geared elevator machine replacement projects. This role will involve managing the machine and other mechanical hoistway component specifications, and performing engineering reviews of customers bid specifications to aid the local offices in creating quotes. You will report to the Modernization Mechanical Engineering Manager who will provide you with access to mentorship, training, growth, and development opportunities across our highly resilient world changing business. On a typical day you will: Provides geared machine replacement feasibility reviews for modernization estimates. Interpret bid specifications and responding to field office's questions mechanical equipment in an effective & timely manner Knowledge of elevator code requirements to evaluate for changes in existing hoistways; such as increasing elevator speed, changing elevator capacity, and increasing the elevators travel. Provides geared machine specifications and work with vendors to get approved machine drawings for production Works to identify & resolve technical issues in the design and implementation of geared elevator replacement projects. Works closely with senior engineers to ensure that the business objectives are implemented and achieved. This is a first shift position with hybrid work location from both the office and home.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering is preferred
  • 3+ years of engineering project management experience
  • Proven ability in analytical thinking, effective problem-solving, and strong communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated with a strong understanding of best practices, processes, and procedures
  • Demonstrated capability to plan and prioritize tasks to meet customer deadlines
  • Familiar with CAD tools, with a preference for AutoCAD and/or CREO
  • Proficient in Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and others
  • Given the nature of the position, applicants must have authorization to work in the U.S. now and in the future without sponsorship.
