About The Position

MTSI is currently seeking an experienced Modeling and Simulation Lead to join our team! This role can be located in Huntsville, Alabama or Colorado Springs, Colorado. About the program: You will be joining an advanced initiative aimed at enhancing missile defense capabilities by utilizing assets positioned in orbit to detect, track, and neutralize incoming threats before they reach their targets. The effort involves integrating cutting-edge sensor technologies, advanced guidance systems, and precision engagement mechanisms to address emerging threats, including ballistic and hypersonic missiles. By intercepting threats at critical points in their flight trajectory, these systems complement naval missile defense networks, providing an added layer of security to safeguard national interests and global stability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, physics, or a related technical discipline with 10 years’ related experience; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of experience in modeling, simulation, or analysis within aerospace or defense domains.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of orbital mechanics, missile defense systems, and sensor technologies.
  • Proficiency with simulation tools such as MATLAB, STK, Simulink, Python, or other modeling software.
  • Experience in working with classified programs and knowledge of DoD security protocols.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills to communicate technical concepts effectively.
  • Must have an Active Top-Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.

  • Prior experience for access to Special Access Program Information (SAP), or Controlled Access Program (CAP) highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and application of advanced modeling, simulation, and analysis techniques to support Space-Based Interceptor programs.
  • Design and maintain models of orbital dynamics, sensor performance, interceptor engagement analyses, and threat scenarios.
  • Perform system-level assessments of design concepts, operational strategies, and system effectiveness to optimize interceptor performance.
  • Manage simulation tools and software, ensuring accurate integration with real-time data.
  • Deliver technical expertise to drive system studies, concept assessments, and trade-off analyses.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, operations, and government agencies to define requirements and ensure alignment with mission objectives.
  • Guide a team of analysts and engineers, mentoring junior staff while reviewing their contributions for accuracy and quality.
  • Prepare and present high-quality technical briefings, documentation, and reports to program leadership and decision-makers.
  • Support hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL), software-in-the-loop (SWIL), and digital integration efforts for test and verification.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD regulations, policies, and security standards throughout development and analytical processes.
