Position Overview: As a Model Maker within the Product Development & Engineering organization, you will play a critical role in bringing innovative designs to life. This is a highly interactive and collaborative role, exposing you to a wide range of development programs while working closely with engineers, designers, and both internal and external customers. Beyond advanced machinist capabilities, you will leverage CAD/CAM systems, engineering databases, and development and project management tools that support Mercury’s daily operations. Success in this role requires technical excellence, adaptability, and the ability to communicate clearly and work effectively within a team. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Journeyman certification or extensive hands-on machinist experience
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM systems
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with engineering and product development functions
  • Experience or knowledge within the marine or boating industry
  • Engine building experience

  • Precision Measurement and Inspection
  • Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Milling (manual and CNC-controlled)
  • Drilling (manual and CNC-controlled)
  • Turning (manual and CNC-controlled)
  • Grinding operations
  • Materials and metallurgy knowledge
  • Design and build of jigs and fixtures
  • Fabrication and bench work/layout
  • Supporting rapid prototyping and development builds
