About The Position

At Atlantic Heavy Duty, mechanics work on refuse trucks that municipalities and waste management companies rely on every day. The role offers stable hours, a Monday through Friday schedule, and the option for overtime if available, all while working on specialized heavy-duty equipment that keeps communities running. This is a mobile service role supporting refuse, fire, and emergency apparatus customers throughout the Uniontown, PA and Morgantown, WV areas. Work is performed at customer locations with a fully equipped service vehicle. Requirements

  • Diesel mechanic experience, preferably with heavy duty trucks or refuse vehicles
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues on fire and emergency apparatus, including chassis, body systems, water pumps, electrical components, and engines
  • Operate and inspect equipment to identify problems and determine the most effective repair solution to return apparatus to safe operating condition
  • Inspect parts and components for damage or excessive wear using specialized diagnostic tools and equipment
  • Repair, rebuild, overhaul, or replace defective components such as gauges, air fittings, plumbing lines and valves, hydraulic lines, pumps, and basic engine components
  • Test repaired equipment to verify proper operation, efficiency, and safety before returning the apparatus to service
